P90X Day 3 – Shoulders and Arms

So today was day 3. Shoulders and Arms. Still quite sore from days 1 and 2 but once I got past the warm up I literally forgot that the rest of my body hurt.

I started with weights I knew I could do to finish the workouts (Goal 8-10 reps) I fell a little short rep wise on a few and had to lower the weight but I also over shot a few reps and should have raised the weight. Oh well. Next Tuesday I’ll adjust accordingly.

Wow, Week 1 is 3/7ths done! (Gotta look at the small things here). Never mind that I have about 12 weeks to go :-P. Shoulder were so swollen after the workout, I felt like I was carrying weights in my hands all day long.

Yoga tomorrow… never done it, should be interesting. Doing it with Rhegan because she apparently want’s a good laugh at my ability to NOT be flexible.

P90X Day 2 – Plyometrics

Ouch.

Second day of P90X and oh my god where is that pain coming from. What muscle is that!?! I didn’t even make it halfway through before my legs nearly collapsed on me. I’m not accustomed to Plyometrics at all. Any activity that I did that closely resembled it was soccer and that was 10+ years ago. I’ve been a smoker for at least that long… and now I’m really starting to see just how out of shape I have become.

I’m developing a love hate relationship with this series and it’s only day 2.

Rhegan and I decided to not take breaks and add the X Stretch on our Rest Day (I really need to increase my flexibility… can’t even grab my ankles (NO PRISON REFERENCES PLEASE :-P).

Agenda for the rest of the night. Long hot bath, then reading Harry Potter year 4 till I go comatose.

P90X Day 1 – Chest and Back

So Rhegan and I started P90X today. Chest and Back followed by Ab Ripper X. We are very sore to say the least. We aren’t obese by any means… but we’re so far out of shape we more resemble gelatinous blobs if only look at our fit levels that is.

I’ve wanted to start P90X for a long time now and after going through the very first workout… I see how this is going to benefit both of us. Not just confidence wise, but physically and mentally.

We both used a few expletives, cursing the people in the back saying “Going for 25 reps”… all the while us falling more than 10-15 behind their estimates. It’s discouraging at first, but I’m sure when we repeat the work out next Sunday, we’ll still curse the people in the back, but we’ll at least be a little bit better than the first round.

Ouch.
